Breastfeeding Stories - Carmen

This is Carmen and here youngest little girl, beautiful three month old, Tara.

These are her words.

I never thought about breastfeeding or not...my mother didn't breastfeed and I didn't have any friends with babies, so i didn't give it too much thought...when they asked me how was i planning to feed Lucas i said i'll try breastfeeding and see how it all go. He latched ok, but he was not putting enough weight, so the midwife in the hospital told me i had to give him formula or they wouldn't discharged me...didn't know much about anything at that stage(didn't really know where to look for help),so I started with the formula, but kept breastfeeding him. After a month or so of formula and breast, i stopped the formula and continue breastfeeding until i went back to work, when he was 7 months. Since then I researched and asked for advice to all my mum friends, and look for their support, and having that support have made such a difference!

I'm breastfeeding now my fourth baby and loving it. Although i always find it very hard at the beginning(and sometimes at 3am the thought of going into formula cross my mind🤪) I love the peace that comes with it...specially the evening and night feeds, when is my time with baby...It makes you stop, breathe and enjoy your cutie. And I love the connection.... when they are out in the world they are still feeding from you...
